The foundation of our product freshness and reliability is a highly efficient logistics concept. We are a strategic partner and consistently focus on supplying supermarkets of a certain size – our structure is deliberately not designed for individual orders from smaller restaurants.

Our efficiency is maximized by our combined model at our Vienna location: We utilize our warehouse space to optimally consolidate the flow of goods. Many customers personally select delicate fruits and vegetables on-site at night, while the ordered branded products are being loaded simultaneously. This combination of customer selection and joint, rapid loading optimizes processes.

Logistically, we focus clearly on Austria and its neighboring regions. We supply larger supermarkets in the Vienna area, as well as in Slovenia and as far as Munich. This deliberate geographical specialization guarantees you the highest reliability and the short, optimized supply chains you need for freshness.

Our past

Culinary homesickness: ONKEL-Şahingöz founder recognized the market gap.

Mustafa Şahingöz, founder of ONKEL-Şahingöz GmbH & Co. KG, noticed early on that our citizens had difficulty finding the familiar and popular dishes of their homeland after arriving in Germany.

The small shop in Lübeck that brought Anatolian cuisine to Germany.

To address this problem, he opened a small shop in Lübeck selling fruit, vegetables, and delicatessen items. This allowed our citizens to purchase their usual products while simultaneously introducing local Germans to the flavors of the distant Anatolian regions.

Social values ​​and business acumen made him "ONKEL".

From 1974 onwards, Mustafa Şahingöz quickly made a name for himself through his social commitment and his willingness to help almost everyone. Over time, he became known as "ONKEL" because of his appreciation for human values ​​and his business acumen. This nickname, which expressed the trust of his customers, honored him, and he decided to name his small shop "ONKEL".

From market niche to wholesale: How the ONKEL store laid the foundation for today's business model.

Although the selection was initially limited – incomparable to the variety of today's Turkish supermarkets – this small shop laid the foundation for the current business model. The business grew steadily, and in 1987 Mustafa Şahingöz moved his company to the Hamburg vegetable market. From then on, he continued his business as a food wholesaler.

2,500 products on 11,000 m²: ONKEL-Şahingöz dominates the wholesale trade at the Hamburg vegetable market.

We are a wholesale food distributor and offer you a selection of over 2,500 products from our 19,000 m² warehouse and sales area at the Hamburg vegetable market. Our focus is on fresh fruit and vegetables as well as the Turkish and Mediterranean branded products you need.

ONKEL Şahingöz under the leadership of the second generation.

We are located directly at the Port of Hamburg, the "Gateway to the World." By leveraging the logistical advantages of this location, we can transport goods at more competitive prices and pass these savings on to our customers. Our company is currently successfully managed by Barış Şahingöz, the son of our founder, Mustafa Şahingöz.
